Ofilia Handmade – A Story of Craftsmanship, Love, and Family
My name is Thuy Tran, although many people also know me as Tuija. I live in Oulu, Finland, and I am the founder of Ofilia Handmade.
My love for handicrafts and hand embroidery began in childhood. There has always been something special about creating with my own hands—the joy of watching a simple thread and tiny stitches come together to create something beautiful and meaningful. Although life has changed in many ways over the years, my passion for embroidery has always stayed with me.
Embroidery became a way for me to slow down, relax, and enjoy creating something with my hands.
However, my true passion was awakened after my daughter was born. I wanted to make hair accessories and little pieces just for her—something unique that belonged only to her. Every stitch seemed to carry love and warmth. From that moment on, embroidery became much more than just a hobby.
That was how Ofilia Handmade began. The idea was born in 2023, and the brand was officially launched in 2024.
To me, Ofilia is first and foremost a gift to my daughter. At the same time, it is my way of preserving the tradition of hand embroidery while giving it a touch of modern elegance. I want to create timeless pieces that each carry their own story.
Even the name tells part of our story. OFILIA comes from the words "Olivia in Finland". Olivia is my daughter's name, which makes the name especially meaningful to me.
Every Ofilia piece is entirely handmade. I believe that handmade creations have something truly unique—each one reflects the maker's time, care, and heart. Those are things that can never be rushed or mass-produced.
My hope is that Ofilia Handmade will continue to share the beauty and tradition of hand embroidery while reminding people that every handmade piece carries a story of its own.
